SURANKOTE:  A fauji mela was organised under the aegis of Sector Rashtriya Rifles at Surankote under the aegis of Romeo Force. The mela highlighted the excellent synergy between Army and the local administration and provided an opportunity for the local populace to interact with the officials of both army and civil administration to express their grievances of common concern. 

The changed perception of the people towards the Army could be seen by the enthusiastic participation of the AWAM in the event, sharing some cheerful moments and presenting of cultural events by the locals.  The attraction of the event was the equipment display of artillery guns and latest weapons.  Cultural event by school children and dog show was also conducted.  

In addition, information useful to local people was provided by organising interaction of locals with Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Health and Hygiene departments. Youth were seen thronging the information desk on bank loans, recruitment in Army and Para Military Forces and Youth Employment Guidance Node. The enthusiasm shown by the local youth could be well appreciated when Mr Pradip Parihar, DSP Surankot, Mr MS Khan, Tehsildar Surankot and may others thanked the organisers and looked forward for another opportunity to have close interaction with the all the departments under one umberalla.   The event was attended by several civil dignitaries.

Mr Ajit Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner Poonch lauded the efforts of the Rashtriya Rifles in restoring normalcy and upliftment of the AWAM by infrastructure development through Op Sadbhavana. This event attracted around 1200 persons from all walks of life and was very well appreciated by the locals. 


UDHAMPUR: 47 Air Defence Regiment, under the aegis of 611 (Independent) Air  Defence Brigade completed an “OPERATION SADBHAVNA” project at Village- Babey, Tehsil –Ramnagar, District-Udhampur On 27 Feb  2012. On 14  Mar 12,  Maj PG Sharma inaugurated the project for repair of boundary wall for Government High School, Babey and expressed his satisfaction at having met the genuine aspirations of the villagers.  

The school old boundary wall was damaged and required  immediate repair.   The headmaster of Govt High School, Babey had approached the unit for repair of boundary wall in the school, and finding the requirement genuine, in consultation with the CEO, the project was undertaken.

In a function attended by about 90 villagers and school children that
  marked the inauguration of the project, the local population expressed gratitude and satisfaction on the infrastructure having been provided at the school under “OPERATION SADBHAVNA”. 
Maj PG Sharma while dedicating the project to the villagers remarked that the development of the nation hinges on quality education of children and infrastructure development, both of which had been addressed by the present project. He also stressed that the village must maintain these projects to derive the benefits for times to come.
