ARMY PROVIDES STUDY MATERIAL TO SCHOOL

BANIHAL: The children of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Banihal were provided with study material under Op Sadhbhavana, on 06 Mar 2012 by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Banihal.

Numerous stationery items including water proof School Bags, Registers, Note Books, Geometric Boxes, Metal Clip Boards, Steel Scales, Attendance Registers and other study material were provided as part of this project.   

The occasion was attended by the School Principal, member and prominent citizens who expressed their gratitude for this thoughtful gesture as part of Operation Sadhbhavana.

The event was a special occasion for the children who do not have adequate amenities in the school.  The new study material and teaching aids were received with great enthusiasm both by the teachers and students. 

This gesture as part of Operation Sadhbhavana was yet another step taken by the Army towards improving the standard of education of students who are studying in Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Banihal.

MOTOR VEH MECHANIC COURSE AT DODA

DODA: A Motor Veh Mechanic Course for a duration of 60 days was conducted by  Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Headquarter Sector Rashtriya Rifles at Doda under “OPERATION SADBHAVANA”. The course was conducted for 30 local unemployed youth residing in the Area of Responsibility of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion to enable them to pursue self employment.

The course saw an overwhelming response from local youth and civil administration. The syllabus of the course covered basic knowledge of the various parts of the engine and gear box, brake and steering system, suspension system, cooling system etc. General and specific problems occurring in an engine and their repairs were also covered as part of the practical syllabus.

The chief guest of the event held to mark the culmination of the course was Commander, Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Mr Farooq Ahmed Khan (KAS), Deputy Commissioner, Doda, Mr Mohd Arif Rishoo, SSP Doda, Mr YR Thusoo, Chief Education Officer and Mr DC Katoch, GM DIC and Deputy Director Employment Officer Doda also attended the event. The Chief Guest addressed the youth and urged them to utilize the knowledge gained during the course for generating self employment.  

He also congratulated them on the successful completion of this course and apprised them about the various employment generation schemes being planned by Army for welfare of local youth including driving classes, computer literacy programmes, mobile repairing, welding classes, animal husbandry etc.  He reiterated that the Army has been a front runner in providing welfare and development schemes for the locals of Doda region. He advised the youth to stay away from negative influences and strive hard towards self improvement as they are the future of this region as well as the country.

TAWI CUP 2012 FINAL MATCH AT RAMBAN

RAMBAN: Today witnessed the grand finale of a scintillating series of cricket matches under the banner of “Jammu Premier League Ph-I, Ramban”. The incessant rainfall   and overcast skies since last two days, which had prompted the closing ceremony to be postponed by a day, did not dampen the spirits of the players and the supporters who had gathered in mammoth numbers to witness the clash of titans from all corners of Ramban District.
           
The final match of the Jammu Premier League Ph-I, Ramban was played between Combined Ramban Cricket Club, Ramban and Gul Cricket Club, Gul. Combined Ramban Cricket Club won the toss, elected to bat and in an excellent display of batting with characteristic elan scored 118 runs all out in 19 overs. Sohail Mustaq of combined Ramban played a blazing innings of 26 runs in 16 balls. 
 
In reply Gul Cricket Club was bowled out for 81 runs in 16.4 overs. Thus Combined Ramban won the match by 37 runs and was declared winner of the ‘Jammu Premier League Ph-I, Ramban’. Mohd Arif of Combined Ramban was declared the man of the match. Salim of Combined Ramban was declared as the man of the series. Mohd Arif of Combined Ramban was declared the best bowler of tournament and Sohail Mushtaq of Combined Ramban was declared the best bowler of tournament. Mohd Asif of Gul Cricket Club was declared the best in sportsman spirit.
           
The colorful closing ceremony was presided by Commander Sector Rashtriya Rifles. Apart from the chief guest Mr Purshottam Sharma, Addl SP Ramban, Mr Dewan Chand Thakur, District Sports Officer Ramban, Satyadev Bandral, Principal, Ramban Higher Secondary School and other dignitaries from Army and civil administration were also present. 
 
The chief guest Commander Sector Rashtriya Rifles while addressing the gathering highlighted the aim of the tournament which was to encourage sports among the Youth and to identify budding cricketers from Ramban district. He also congratulated the teams for their hard work and the organizing committee whose endless efforts led to the occasion being a grand success. He also felicitated the players by giving away the trophy to Combined Ramban along with certificates.
           
The entire tournament was organized by  Sector Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) part of Op Sadhbhavna in close coordination with the Department of District Youth Services and Sports, Ramban and Civil Administration, Ramban.

SADBHAVANA TOUR FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN OF NAOSHERA FLAGED IN

NAUSHERA: An educational-cum-motivational tour was organized under ‘Project Sadbhavana’ by the Ace of Spades Division and Naushera Brigade from 26 Feb 12 to 06 Mar 12 for twenty students from militancy affected villages located in remote areas near the line of control of Naushera Sector.
           
The tour was flagged off from Naushera on 26 Feb 2012 and culminated at Butalia Auditorium at Naushera on 06 Mar 2012 after visiting Goa, Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Delhi.  During the tour, the participants spread the message of peace and tranquility and closely witnessed the vibrant history culture & progress of India that these locations had to offer. 
           
This tour had their first halt at Goa, where Youth Hostel Association of India provided great hospitality and accommodation for children.  They visited Dolphin, Aguada Fort, Calangute Beach, Baga beach, Lord Bodgeshwar Temple and Aqua World Cruises, INA Hansa, Old Goa Church, Archaeological Museum and Mangeshee Temple.  The children also witnessed the sports infrastructure facilities at the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG). 

At Hyderabad they visited Charminar, Macca Masjid, Nehru Zoological Park and Golconda Fort. The children were thereafter taken to Secunderabad. During their stay in Secunderabad they visited Birla Temple, Lumbini Park, NTR Garden and Hussain Sagar Lake. Seeing the sites & places the children were extremely enthusiastic and trying to learn the culture and were motivated by the development & infrastructure of these places.

The children were thereafter taken to New Delhi where they visited India Gate, Red Fort, Rajghat and Lotus Temple and were thrilled to experience ride in the famous Metro Train.
           
The successful completion of this tour has resulted in developing a deep sense of belonging to the nation amongst these children of remote areas.  This tour has given a glimpse of the road to better future & development to these children which will become their guiding light to shape the future, growth & development of their areas when they grow up.

JAMMU PREMIER LEAGUE (TAWI CUP 2012)

KISHTWAR: In the series of Op Sadbhavana activities to win the hearts and minds of local people, a cricket tournament is being organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Chogan ground, Kishtwar with effect from    07 Mar 2012.  In a cricket frenzy nation like India as expected the tournament is raking up lot of attention.  This cricket tournament is the Phase-I of Jammu Premier League (Tawi Cup 2012).

The aim of this tournament is to identify the best team that can represent Kishtwar District.  Sixteen teams from various corners of Kishtwar District have registered for this tournament. The Inauguration ceremony was held on a grand scale attended by various luminaries of Kishtwar town. Commander   Sector Rashtriya Rifles declared the tournament open and also faced a ball from Mr Mohd Hussain Malik, DC Kishtwar as a symbolic gesture.  Commander Sector Rashtriya Rifles spoke about the importance of games and physical activity among the youth.

The build up to the tournament has been exciting with each team asserting their claim to the trophy.  First match between Puchal Eleven Club and Youth Kishtwar Club was an icing on the cake as they were an equally balanced and fiercely competitive sides. Winner of this tournament will take home Rs 25,000/- and a trophy while the runner up team will get Rs 15,000/- and a trophy.  In addition to this there are many individual prizes to be won.
 
Speaking on the sidelines of the occasion, the DC Mr Mohd Hussain Malik appreciated the efforts of the Army and complimented them for taking up such a constructive project to ensure harmony in the society. Mr Vikrant Chander, Captain of Puchal Eleven Club also spoke and said he and his team members are buoyant and eagerly looking forward to the tournament.  He further added that is for the first time that a selection committee will be intently watching them and deciding the future Kishtwar District team. To represent their district at the state level is indeed once in a life time opportunity and many probables are hopeful to even play for the country in the near future.

The tournament has been planned with full involvement and co-operation of District Sports Authority who will also play an important role in selecting the District Level Team for participating in the Jammu Premier League (Tawi Cup 2012).
