MOTIVATIONAL TOUR FOR ELDERLY PERSONS CONDUCTED

UDHAMPUR: A motivational tour for elderly persons under operation Sadbhavana was organised by 151 Inf Bn (TA) JAT from 02 Feb to 08 Feb 12.  Maj Gen AK Sehgal, GOC 71 Sub Area “Flagged Off” the tour at Garhi Cantt.

A large number of Officers, JCOs, other rank and civilains participated in the “Flagging Off Ceremony”.  The GOC highlighted the genesis and aim of organising such tours, medical camps, amongst other schemes being conducted under OP Sadbhavana and its consequent advantages.  The GOC addressed the civilians including the elderly personnel going for the tour and exhorted them to spread the message  of National Integrity and brotherhood.  He further asked the persons to share the rich heritage and varied culture of the beautiful state
of J&K with people whom they will interact during the tour.

During the week long tour to Dehradun, Mussorie a visit to the esteemed Indian Military Academy at  Dehradun, Indian Administrative Academy at Mussorie, Forest Research Insitute of India, Budha Temple, Shahastra Dhara and Guchu Pani amongst other sight seeing places was organised.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, Mr Sukerdin thanked Col AK Rohilla, SM, Commanding Officer, 151 Inf Bn (TA) JAT and the Indian Army for their kind gesture and said that such initiatives will go a long way in further strengthening the bond of friendship between the Army and the local population.

BANDIPURA SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (ATHROUT) VISITS TAJ VIVANTA, HOTEL RESIDENCY AND CAFÉ COFFEE DAY SRINAGAR

BANDIPURA: Skill Development Programme, “ATHROUT” (HELPING HANDS) is being run under Indian Army Sadhbhavana and Dr Reddy’s Foundation at ITI Bandipura since 16 Dec 2011. Training is being imparted in three domains i.e. Information Tech Enabling Services (ITES), Customer Relations and Sales/Retail (CRS) and Hospitality.  
 
A total of 80 unemployed graduates of Bandipura are attending the programme.  09 Feb 12 was a big day for 17 students of Hospitality domain as they were taken on an educational tour to Hotel Taj Vivanta, Hotel Residency and Café Coffee Day in Srinagar. Officials of these Hotels briefed the students on their property and professional work.  Taj Vivanta also catered for the lunch of the students and their instructors.  The students returned back highly motivated with eagerness and aspiration to join the hospitality industry immediately on termination of their training on 02 Mar 2012.
 

ARMY DISTRIBUTED EDUCATIONAL AIDS, SPORTS GEAR AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

BARAMULLA: The local army unit deployed Lachhipora distributed educational aids, sports gear and musical instruments to over thirty schools of remote and isolated villages of Baramulla district for children of various age groups on 13 Feb 12, under Sadhbhavna .

The distributed items included cricket kits, footballs, badminton racquets, several educational and motivational charts and many other items to poor children and schools of the villages of Babagail,  Limber, Islamabad, Bagna, Nalusa, Lachhipora and nearby areas. The event was also attended by the Zonal Educational Officer Mr.Abdul Rasheed Meer and Tehsildaar  M. Aslam Chauhan and all the Sarpanch and Panchayat officials of the area.

Education and guidance of the youth in the right direction in a healthy environment is pivotal for development and progress of any area. Even in extremely cold weather conditions, there was a palpable feeling of warmth amongst the locals and their smiling faces, hopeful eyes and enthusiastic voice definitely beckon yet another step closer to a peaceful and brighter Kashmir.
