T-20 AKHNOOR PREMIER LEAGUE (FINAL MATCH)

AKHNOOR : A T-20 Cricket Tournament Akhnoor Premier Leauge was organised by    10 Infantry Division under Operation Sadbhavana, from 27 February 2012  to        10 March 2012 at Army School Senior Wing at Akhnoor. 


The Tournament was played in three pools among nine teams of Akhnoor district.  A total of 135 players participated. A large number of young spectators from various schools and colleges were present to witness the exciting matches. The final match was played between Dheriyan Club Rakhmuthi & Singh Club Akhnoor on 10 Mar 2012.  Singh Club Akhnoor won the tournament by  08 wickets. 

The aim of the tournament was to encourage sports amongst the youth and to identify young and budding talented cricketers from Akhnoor District, to further represent the district in Jammu region in a state lavel event scheduled in March.


Brig AK Shukla, VSM, Deputy General Officer Commanding 10 Infantry Division distributed the prizes to the winner and runner-up teams and emphasised on the role of sports in moulding and channelising the youth positively for constructive development of our country.  The event was attended by a large number of civil dignitaries including 150. The organisation of Cricket Tournament was appreciated by one and all.
