SRINAGAR: 3rd Battalion
The Madras Regiment (THAGDAS) celebrated its Golden Jubilee in a
spirited programme amidst the snow clad hills in Kashmir Valley.
The
Battalion raised at Wellington (Nilgiris) on 01 March 1962, has
completed 50 glorious years in the service to the Nation. High ranking
military and civil dignitaries joined the Battalion on this historical
occasion at Paribal in Bandipur District (J&K).
Maj Gen KD Singh,
ADG MP laid wreath at the Battalion War Memorial and paid homage to the
brave martyrs who have laid down their lives for the glory of the
Nation. He also released a Special Cover, Special Cancellation and a
Brochure by the Army Postal Service to commemorate the Battalion’s
history and achievements on this occasion.
On this historical occasion the Commanding Officer venerated the brave soldiers for their outstanding performance.
