DODA LEG OF JAMMU PREMIER LEAGUE 2012 BEGINS

DODA: Jammu Premier League Phase-I was inaugurated at Doda Stadium on  14 Mar 2012 under Operation Sadhbhavana with the aim to encourage sports among the youth and also to identify budding cricket players from Dist Doda. The event has been co-organized by District Youth Services and Sports Office, Doda and Army. A total of 17 teams from the district are participating in the tournament spanning over a period of 09 days.  Top 02 teams from the District will get a chance to represent Doda in Phase – II of Jammu Premier League (JPL) to be conducted in April 2012.

Jammu Premier League Ph-I will be a perfect platform for the best cricket clubs across Doda to showcase their talent in the field.  The tournament will be officiated by experienced umpires in the cricket arena being provided by sports department, Doda. 

The Chief Guest, Mr Farooq Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Doda alongwith Colonel V S Sankhyan, Deputy Commander, Headquarters 4 Sector Rashtriya Rifles who was the guest of honour inaugurated Jammu Premier League Phase-I in presence of Senior Civil and Army Officers including Officiating Commanding Officer, 10 Rashtriya Rifles, AAG 4 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Doda, Assistant Commandant of 76 CRPF Bn, District Sports Officer and a Medical Officer of Health Department, Doda.

The people of Doda have whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of District Youth Services and Sports Office, Doda and Army in encouraging the youth thereby inculcating interest in sports. This step will go a long way in giving a boost in development of sports in this area of Jammu and Kashmir.
