ARMY CONDUCTS FAUJI MELA AT SURANKOTE

SURANKOTE:  A fauji mela was organised under the aegis of Sector Rashtriya Rifles at Surankote under the aegis of Romeo Force. The mela highlighted the excellent synergy between Army and the local administration and provided an opportunity for the local populace to interact with the officials of both army and civil administration to express their grievances of common concern. 

The changed perception of the people towards the Army could be seen by the enthusiastic participation of the AWAM in the event, sharing some cheerful moments and presenting of cultural events by the locals.  The attraction of the event was the equipment display of artillery guns and latest weapons.  Cultural event by school children and dog show was also conducted.  

In addition, information useful to local people was provided by organising interaction of locals with Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Health and Hygiene departments. Youth were seen thronging the information desk on bank loans, recruitment in Army and Para Military Forces and Youth Employment Guidance Node. The enthusiasm shown by the local youth could be well appreciated when Mr Pradip Parihar, DSP Surankot, Mr MS Khan, Tehsildar Surankot and may others thanked the organisers and looked forward for another opportunity to have close interaction with the all the departments under one umberalla.   The event was attended by several civil dignitaries.

Mr Ajit Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner Poonch lauded the efforts of the Rashtriya Rifles in restoring normalcy and upliftment of the AWAM by infrastructure development through Op Sadbhavana. This event attracted around 1200 persons from all walks of life and was very well appreciated by the locals.
