ARMY AVERTS MAJOR FIRE DISASTER

LADAKH: The Army displayed fine mettle once again when a forest fire broke out in Lakjung village situated in the picturesque Nubra vally of the Ladakh region recently. The speedy mobilization of men and firefighting equipment by the Army helped avert a major tragedy that could have led to irreparable loss of property and lives-both human as well as livestock.  
 
In an emotionally worded letter to the General Officer Commanding of the Corps responsible for the Leh- Ladakh region, Lt Gen Ravi Dastane,VSM, the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra, Mr P K S harma wrote that the swift and timely action by the Army had “left an indelible impression on the minds of public and civil administration of Nubra Valley and has inculcated deep-rooted respect and love for our brave hearts”.
