JAMMU: A
medical camp was held at village Sungri.
Free medicines to over 300 civilians were provided. People of this area
have to travel long distances on foot to receive basic medical aid. Army had also arranged for a lady doctor
specifically to attend to the medical needs of female patients.
Counter
Insurgency Force (Uniform) has been in forefront in conducting programs aimed
at constructive engagement of local populace for which people to people contact
activities are being undertaken under Op Sadbhavana.
During the camp, the battalion
provided much needed specialized medical cover especially to children and
elderly people residing in the far flung areas. The medical team comprised of three
doctors from the Army and Nursing Assistants. A lecture on importance of
hygiene and sanitation was also delivered during the medical camp wherein
various patients had turned up for medical checkup from the nearby villagers.
Mohd
Shabdur an elder from Sungri village said that he was grateful to the Army for
providing free medical aid at this remote place where no Government medical
facility exists.
