ARMY PAYS HOMAGE TO ITS DEPARTED SOLDIERS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN AVALANCHES

SRINAGAR: A wreath laying ceremony was solemnised at Badami Bagh Cantonment for the three brave soldiers who lost their lives in avalanches at Sonamarg on 22 Feb 12. Wreaths were laid on behalf of GOC-in-C Northern Commmand, Lt Gen KT Parnaik. 

Wreaths were also laid by Lt Gen SA Hasnain and other senior officers, JCOs and other ranks of the Badami Bagh Garrison. Army camps at Dawar in Gurez sector and Sonamarg were devasted by avalanches on night of 22 Feb 12. The tragedy was so severe that number of soldiers were buried in the snow with a few bodies yet to be recovered.
