ARMY AVERTS MAJOR FIRE LOSS IN TANGDHAR MARKET

TANGDHAR: The alertness and prompt reaction of Army troops of Tangdhar Garrison prevented a devastating fire that broke out late at night at 0130hrs on 19 Feb 2012 in Aijaz Footwear Shop in Tangdhar Market from spreading to the adjacent shops and preventing additional loss of property and thus provided succour to many shopkeepers whose shops were saved. 

 

Alert Army troops noticed flames from one of the shops in Tangdhar Market and immediately informed their superiors. Despite the inclement weather and freezing temperatures, a column of troops was immediately launched. They found fire and smoke billowing out from Aijaz Footwear Shop, owned by Eijaz Ahmed Mir, son of Mahmud Rafiq Mir, resident of Tangdhar. The alert column commander activated the Fire Brigade and Police to arrive at the scene and prevent it from engulfing the neighboring shops in the market saving massive losses.
