‘SHEEN MUBARIK’: AWAM AND ARMY ENJOY TOGETHER

SRINAGAR: Heavy snowfall in the valley adversely affected the daily routine of natives. Apart from extremely harsh climatic conditions with sustained subzero temp heavy snow fall added to the misery and people were not coming out of their houses.

For positive engagement of the civil population, 14 Rashtriya Rifles decided to draw the population out of their houses by organising snowman / snowculpture competition for them. The Jury comprised of Sarpanch, Punch and village elders along with officers of the Army Camp. The competition received warm response from the villagers as they came out in large numbers.

Prizes were distributed by the team of Jury, which were provided to them by 14 Rashtriya Rifles.  The occasion also provided opportunity for interaction with such a large group & provide them with information about prevention of cold injuries.

Mobile medical team went to villages amidst snowfall & educated the people about preventive measures to be undertaken to avoid life threatening emergencies like status asthmatics and limb threatening disease like Chill blane, trench foot and frostbite.  The people enjoyed making snow sculpture and applauded Army’s humanitarian efforts.
