ARMY ORGANISES VETERINARY CAMP AT SANGLA

SURANKOTE: A large population of Poonch district lives in far-flung and remote villages, the main source of income for them is from their livestocks.  Meagre income & lack of basic veterinary facilities have often led to loss of their livestocks thereby aggravating the problems of the folks.

In order to over come the difficulties faced by the poor, a Rashtriya Rifles made an endeavorer to reach out to the poor people in this remote area by organizing a veterinary camp on 30 Dec 2011 at Sangla next to Pamrot Bridge.  05 Veterinary Doctors, 01 Army Veterinary Doctor and 03 Veterinary Assistant attended to a large number of livestock at the camp.

Approximately 1200 Sheep/Goats, 250 Cattles & 250 Ponnies from Sangla, Pamrot, Nandiyali, Surankote and adjoining villages availed the facilities. People showed keen interest in the Camp and brought out their problems and their queries which were answered by experts from Army and Animal Husbandary Departement. The camp was organised at the behest of Headquarters Romeo Force.

This initiative of Romeo Force for conduct of veterinary camp was greatly appreciated by the local populace especially, the under-privileged people of the remote areas in and around Surankote Tehsil and was yet another mile stone in Army’s initiative to reach out to the locals.

While Speaking to media on the occasion Dr. Farookh, Vet Hosp Surankote stated that this Veterinary camp was successful in providing the villagers free Veterinary checkup who hardly get an opportunity to go to the doctors as they are from far off places. Such camps would prove to be life saving for the animals which must be organized from time to time. Mr Gulam Ahmed, Sarpanch Nandiyali thanked the Army for coming forward in their area and providing free medication and treating their livestock. The Tehsildar and Block Medical Officer, Surankote also graced the occasion. Refreshment was organised for all the civilians who attended the camp.
