ARMY LENDS HELPING HAND FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

RAJOURI:  A Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Tithwal Brigade organized a Medical and Veterinary Camp on 10 Dec 2011 in village Bhajnowa and Gugrot of Rajouri District as part of ‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrations.  During the the camp free medicines were given to the patients.

The main highlight was to attend to the medical ailments of locals and their livestock and also educating the populace on animal care before the coming winter months.  Approx 650 patients and 1000 animals benefitted from the camp.  During the camp a total of 10 wheel chairs and 22 crutches were also distributed to needy persons from remote villages. Mr Ashwani Kumar one of the recipient of the wheel chair proudly remarked,  “I am indeed indebted to the Army for having assisted me by presenting this wheel chair as it will go a long way in improving my mobility, self reliance and a better life style”.

Rashtriya Rifles also distributed computers and furniture to Govt Girls High School, Lamberi, Govt High School Langar, Govt Middle School Thati, Dhindeka, Thill Hakiman and Guniya. Mr Kastoori Lal, Principal of Govt Girls High School, Lamberi while appreciating the gesture said, “This will go a long way in increasing the IT awareness of the students in this competitive world and offer them with greater job opportunities in future”.

The Commanding Officer of the Rashtriya Riffles in his address, impressed upon the people and the students to be progressive in their approach and encouraged the children to take advantage of facilities being provided for their personality development.
