Veterinary aid and Rural Development Camp at Village Malarad


UDHAMPUR: A Veterinary Aid Camp was organized by a dedicated team of officers and jawans from the Advance Field Veterinary Hospital on behalf of 71 Sub Area under the aegis OP SADBHAVNA at village Malarad, Udhampur district on 22 Nov 2011. 
Teams from the District Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry departments and the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, SKUAST, RS Pura, Jammu were also in attendance. 


In addition to providing treatment, animal husbandry advice and specialist veterinary cover, the farmers and ex-servicemen of that region were provided with an unmatched opportunity to interact and get the advice of Army agencies like ECHS, ESM help line, DGR, AMC etc in addition to all civil officials involved in rural development.  Specialist diagnostic and treatment facilities including medicines were provided free of cost to the sick animals of the villagers.
The camps success stemmed from the enthusiastic participation of staff from the Army’s Command Hospital (Northern Command), Directorate General Resettlement, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Zilla Sainik Welfare board, Field Health Organization, Military Farms, and Civil Departments of Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Agriculture, Medical, Horticulture, Floriculture and Fisheries. 

The NABARD and J&K Bank also pitched the stalls. In addition to the Veterinary treatment given, ailing villagers were treated by the doctors and all other agencies showcased various schemes of their departments and distributed free samples to the farmers. M/S Shalimar feeds Pvt Ltd distributed free animal feed packets. Free male calves were distributed free of cost to early birds by Military Farms.

A record No of 3235 livestock including cows/buffaloes/goats/sheep/horses/mules and dogs were treated/rendered professional advice in the camp by the Army and Civil veterinarians present in addition 312 persons were provided treatment and medical advice by the doctors present.
